High Hill Beach, Bellmore Ferry Train schedule
May 21st-Sept 6th, 1927

Depicted are both sides of a 1927 Ferry and Train schedule for High Hill Beach. This was for Stevens' Ferry located out of Bellmore, New York. There were several operators of ferry service to the High Hill Beach community at various times, mostly based out of Seaford and Bellmore. This was near the end of the need for ferry service due to the construction of the Jones Beach Causeway to the new State Park which opened August 4, 1929. The High Hill Beach community co-existed within Jones Beach State Park for eleven years. The residents were given until June 1,1940 to relocate their cottages, many of the ninety-eight cottages were moved to West Gilgo. Info/Archive: Joshua Soren
