Looking east from the pedestrian overpass. This may be the only known photograph of automatic block (and Section Break) signal S262 on Track 2 up on the signal bridge. The signal bridges were included as part of the grade separation project as a provision for a future Wantagh Interlocking. Track 1 was placed in service on the elevation on 10/22/1968 and Track 2 followed on 11/1. The interlocking was placed in service 6/7/1971 and S262 was converted to home signal 6 (later renumbered 2E). |

The Wantagh Station, Wantagh, New York. On September 23, 1966, (56 years ago), the former station was removed from its foundation on Railroad Avenue and secured onto the building movers truck for the slow ride on Wantagh Avenue to its current location opposite Emeric Avenue. The building serves as the Wantagh Historical Museum, operated by the Wantagh Preservation Society. Joshua Soren |
