Inside baseball, 1976 - During my career in the LIRR's once-small Public
Relations Department, Paul Rigby, New York Post cartoonist, penned this
classic following one of the LIRR's major rush hour delays. Walter
Schlager, Jr., LIRR prexy, walked into the PR Department the following
morning and quipped "I want that on my office wall".
We dialed Rigby and he sent an autographed blowup to the boss. It
occupied a prominent place in his 3rd floor office, not far from the
ancient LIRR regulator clock that kept time for many LIRR presidents. -
