Three (3) wyes attached: 1. Wye at Upton Junction 2. Wye at Manorville 3. “Wye” at Eastport. While #3 appears just to be a switch with curving track, it was referred to by the railroad AS a wye. Emery refers to it as the “west leg of wye” on his map. This allowed eastbound trains on the Manorville-Eastport branch to change direction without a reverse move. This was done for the smooth handling of troop trains. One-way routing: eastbound over the Main Line into the camp and westbound out of the camp via the east leg of the Upton Jct. wye to the Main Line then via Manorville-Eastport branch to the wye at Eastport and, changing direction, westbound along the Montauk branch. Enjoy! Dave
